- Raymond C. Stevens
Ray Stevens is an American structural biologist.
He grew up in Maine, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the
University of Southern Maine and, in 1988, a Ph.D. in Chemistry from theUniversity of Southern California . He then took a postdoctoral position inWilliam Lipscomb 's lab atHarvard University . Stevens then took atenure-track position at theUniversity of California, Berkeley . He later left Berkeley to take atenured position atThe Scripps Research Institute and is currently Professor of Molecular Biology and Chemistry atThe Scripps Research Institute inLa Jolla ,California .Stevens is known for obtaining the structures of many biologically significant proteins and his technological innovations. Ray is considered to be one of the fathers of
high-throughput x-ray crystallography . In October, 2007, Stevens published the first structure of a humanGPCR . [ [http://www.usc.edu/schools/college/news/october_2007/stevens.html USC College : News : October 2007 : Raymond Stevens ] ]External links
