Joy Division singles compilation released byFactory Records . It is considered by many to be a companion toNew Order 's "Substance".The album features
Wim Crouwel 's New Alphabet type. However, the word on the cover reads "Substamce" rather than the intended "Substance"."Substance" reached #7 in the UK and #15 in New Zealand upon its release. It also marked Joy Division's one U.S. chart appearance, reaching #146 and the first of their two Australian chart appearances, (the other being "The Best of Joy Division"), reaching #53 in August 1988.
