*Montreal Expos by|1988Russ Gebhart (born
April 8 ,1970 ), nicknamed "Gebster", is a formerMajor League Baseball pitcher and stand-up comedian.Baseball career
Gebhart played with the
Montreal Expos , for one game in 1988, giving up 10 runs in only 4 innings pitched.Comedy career
After baseball, Gebster went on to a lucrative stand-up comedy career. Modeling his comedic style on that of
Bill Cosby , he performed in places likeBranson, Missouri andPort Henry, New York , and became a minor celebrity with his derivative brand of family-friendly hilarity. After the crowds dwindled, Gebster experimented briefly with more "blue" comedy, taking cues from the likes ofDon Rickles , however, the experiment failed. Russ is now retired from both comedy and baseball; he lives inMcLean, Virginia with his wife and has been seen late at night, in his truck, reciting old jokes and playing the audio cassette play-by-play of his only game in the big leagues.
