Bogdan Mischiu

Bogdan Mischiu is a former Romanian anti-Communist dissident, currently residing in the United States.

Mischiu was born in 1957 in Mediaş, Sibiu County. He was arrested in 1979 for being a member of the forbidden organization Sindicatul Liber al Oamenilor Muncii din România (SLOMR) (Free Trade Union of the Working People of Romania).

A student at the University of Bucharest's English Language Department at the time of his arrest, he was eventually allowed to leave Romania for the United States after much harassment by the feared Romanian secret police, the Securitate.

In the United States he continued his studies, and became a scholar of the history of theatrical arts.
