- Ken Spivey
Ken Spivey, is a local folk-pop musician of the Tampa Bay Area who often plays solo and with his full band called "The Ken Spivey Band".
Ken began his musical career in 1995 in a Catholic
rock band called, "Just Cause." They received mild critical acclaim, national air play, and performed for various youth rallies and churches in the southeast. Ken left the band when he released his secondsolo album in 2003, where he explored theindie rock of the late 90's. He then toured with "The Human Echo" and "Harry Dash" during the summer of 2004, where he honed his skills as a solo acoustic musician and soon abandoned alternative andChristian music altogether. In 2005 he met another singer/songwriter and recorded his acoustic album, which revitalized his career. Ken Spivey then played various Tampa venues such as Skipper's Smokehouse, New World Brewery, and developed a following at the University of South Florida. During this time period, he befriended Karen of Sacred Grounds and found her venue as a home base for his musical career. In 2006 Ken hosted & organized several fashion shows, involving a combination of live music and the visual arts. In 2007, he released his latest CD at his "Living Art & Live Music" fashion show/concert, in conjunction with designer Orianna Kurrus. Ken Spivey still performs in the Tampa Bay Area, while he slowly finishes his Masters in Ancient History at The University of South Florida.
