Wet alife is
artificial life createdin vitro as opposed to the normally impliedin silico when using the broader term alife. Generally wet alife involves experiments with chemical substrates in water or anothersolvent (which is where the "wet" in "wet alife" comes from).Wet alife experiments attempt to either probe the origins of life, study some of the properties of life, or more ambitiously to recreate life from non-alive (
abiotic ) substances. An example of wet alife might be an attempt to create self-replicating, self-perpetuating (autocatalytic)chemical reaction s to simulate possible origins for life.See also
