eponym=Christian L. IdelerIdeler is a small lunar
impact crater in the low southern latitudes of theMoon . This formation is visible from theEarth , but it appears somewhat foreshortened due to its location. The crater lies just to the northeast of the larger Baco crater, and west-northwest of the prominent Pitiscus crater. To the west-northwest of Ideler is Breislak crater.This feature forms part of a nearly matched crater pair with 'Ideler L', which Ideler is intruding upon along its eastern flank. The smaller satellite crater 'Baco R' is nearly attached to the opposite, western rim. The remainder of the rim is worn, with a pair of small craterlets along the northern rim and inner wall. The interior floor is nearly featureless.
atellite craters
By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater mid-point that is closest to Ideler crater.
