- Gaelic medium education
Gaelic medium education (GME) is a form of
education in Scotland that sees pupils taught primarily via the medium ofScottish Gaelic with English being taught as the secondary language. Similar forms of education exist in the two other Gaelic-speaking countries,Ireland (seeGaelscoil ) and Mann (seeBunscoill Ghaelgagh ).GME is increasingly popular throughout Scotland. The number of pupils who are in Gaelic medium education at primary school level has risen from 24 in 2 schools in 1985, to over 2,000 in 62 schools in 2006-2007.
