Moturoa is a coastal suburb of New Plymouth, in the western North Island of New Zealand. It is located to the west of the city centre. The population was 3,558 in the 2006 Census, an increase of 315 from 2001.[1]

The Ngamotu Domain lies to the south of Moturoa, and Mount Moturoa to the west. Ngamotu Beach is to the north.[2]

Education

Moturoa School is a coeducational contributing primary (years 1-6) school with a decile rating of 3 and a roll of 113.[3] The school celebrated its 75th anniversary in 1998.[4] Since 2006 the school has been home to the two primary classes of the New Plymouth Montessori school, which was previously at the (now closed) Kaimiro School near Egmont Village.[5] Moturoa School was the first Enviroschool in Taranaki and has achieved Silver award level. [6]

Sport

Moturoa is home to Moturoa AFC, one of New Zealand's oldest association football clubs.
