- John Immyns
John Immyns (1700 –
April 15 ,1764 ) was an Englishattorney andlutenist .Immyns taught himself to play the
lute at the age of 40, and was a connoisseur and collector of old music. He founded theMadrigal Society in 1741, and in 1752 became lutenist to theChapel Royal . He was also a member of theAcademy of Ancient Music , and served asamanuensis toJohann Christoph Pepusch .References
