Guoray Cai

Guoray Cai is an associate professor of College of Information Sciences and Technology in Pennsylvania State University, where he is also an affiliate faculty of Department of Geography and an affiliate faculty of Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

Cai has done research work in geographical information systems, human-computer interaction, information retrieval, and geography of cyberspace. He has published works in international journals and conferences, such as Proceedings of IEEE, International Journal of Geographical Information Science, Transactions in GIS, Networks, Networks and Spatial Economics, and IEEE international conferences and Symposiums.

Research Activity

Currently, he is in charge of four on-going National Science Foundation funding projects with total individual credit $405,521. Awards

Career

Cai received a Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Tianjin University, China, a Master of Arts in Geography from West Virginia University in 1993, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 1999. Before Cai came to academia, he had professional experience, including the NASA Global Change Program, USDA Forest Service, Pennsylvania Department of Education, and five years as a research scientist in Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is a faculty member in three departments in Pennsylvania State University. He also is an active member of ACM, IEEE, and ASPRS. ]
