Janice Licalsi

Janice Licalsi was a fictional character on the television series "NYPD Blue". She was portrayed by Amy Brenneman for the first season and the initial two episodes of the second season.

A uniform cop, early on in the series she murdered a mob boss who had ordered her to kill her lover John Kelly. Licalsi did this as her father, also a cop, was on the payroll of the mob boss and she was trying to protect him from exposure. She was later left devastated when her father committed suicide because his actions had been uncovered in another investigation. The mob later blackmailed her into providing information to them, including a license plate number for a mob bookmater who was assassinated. A mean-spirited OCCB Inspector named Lastarza drafted her into undercover work against the mob, but she was freed from these bonds after several internecine mob killings and Kelly's deliberate destruction of evidence that pointed to her involvement in the mob boss' murder. However at the end of the first season Licalsi turned herself in and was sentenced to two years in jail for manslaughter. She was not heard of again.
