HighTide Festival

HighTide Festival is an annual theatre festival which takes place at The Cut in Halesworth, Suffolk, UK. Founded in 2007 by Sam Hodges, the inaugural festival took place between 6 and 8 April 2007.

HighTide 2007 produced four full productions and four rehearsed readings of new plays by young writers. [ [http://www.hightidefestival.org/pages/2007.php Welcome to High Tide Festival 2008 ] ] These were Lyre by Megan Walsh, Assembly by Tom Basden, Ned & Sharon by Sam Holcroft, VI/VII by Pericles Snowdon, Weightless by Sarah Cuddon, Oscar and Jim by Iain Weatherby, You Were After Poetry by Steven Bloomer and Inside Out by Matt Morrison. The 50 strong company of writers, directors, and actors, received masterclasses from Richard Eyre, Joe Penhall, David Farr, and Nicholas Wright.

The festival also featured a panel discussion led by BBC Radio 4's Libby Purves, Max Stafford-Clark in conversation with Nina Raine, short films, comedy, performance poetry and music from Tom Baxter and friends.

HighTide 2008 returns to The Cut with an expanded programme featuring devised theatre, film, and playwrighting alongside other talks and events.

The Festival's Artistic Directors are Sam Hodges and Steven Jon Atkinson. The festival's patrons are Sinead Cusack, Sally Greene, David Hare and Bill Nighy.
