The faculty is encouraged to motivate students to practice a reasoned and vital faith that will enable them to lead mature and creative lives. While the faculty attends different churches, they all are selected to be dedicated Christians committed to the ideals of free inquiry in the pursuit of truth and respect for all people. The student body also represents diverse churches, races, and social backgrounds.
Crichton College endeavors to offer students a well-rounded educational experience, which allows them to explore all dimensions of their personalities while, at the same time, receiving instruction in the pursuit of a career.
Crichton further endeavors to promote whole person development, recognizing that under the sovereignty of God all people possess intellectual, spiritual, psychological, and physical dimensions.

The college is accredited by the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), and it is a member of theCouncil for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).History
Crichton was founded in 1941 as a Bible training center, expanded to a Bible Institute in 1948, and became a four-year Bible College in 1960. Mid-South Bible College was first accredited by the Association of Biblical Higher Education in 1971 and, subsequently, in 1986 as a liberal arts college by the Commission on Colleges of the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). To reflect its new comprehensive nature, the college changed its name from Mid-South Bible to Crichton College in 1987. In 1989, Crichton moved to 6655 Winchester Road, in the urbanized Southeastern part of Shelby County between Germantown and Memphis. There, Crichton shared a campus with local megachurch, Central Church. In March 2002, after a dozen years at the corner of Kirby and Winchester in Memphis, Crichton College relocated to its present campus, at 255 North Highland. This new location within the higher educational quadrangle of Memphis affords a completely renovated facility and closer proximity to the city's affiliated educational resources. Student housing is available in Georgian Woods, a nearby apartment complex.
