high school . The school offers co-ed classes in all the grades.History
Sydney Academy was first developed in the center of the township of Sydney in the 19th century by local
immigrants . As time moved on, the school relocated to multiple other sites around the city, until reaching the current one at 49 Terrace Street. The school experienced an exponential growth along with the
coal mining boom inCape Breton in the early and middle 20th century. But, along with theemigration of graduates and families from Cape Breton to more well-to-do parts of the country, the school has experienced a lag in numbers in the past few years.References
