Henriques family

The Henriques family, prominent Sephardic Jewish benefactors in the 19th century, is of Portuguese Jewish descent. A firm Henriques Brothers, West-Indian merchants, existed in the 1800s [Jacob Henriques. (1911-1898) from "Jewish Encyclopedia" [http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/view.jsp?artid=600&letter=H] . Also see "David Quixano Henriques" (1804-1870) [http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/view.jsp?artid=599&letter=H&search=Henriques] . Retrieved 20 September 2007.] . It is not clear when the Henriques family migrated to England, but the middle name Quixano stems apparently from the marriage of Moses Henriques and Abigail Quixano, daughter of Abraham Quixano. [ [http://kurrein.com/Henriques/f139.htm#f20 Marriage and children of Moses Henriques and Abigail Quixano.] . Their son [http://kurrein.com/Henriques/f26.htm#f23 Abraham Quixano Henriques] was father of the philanthropists Jacob and David Henriques. Retrieved 20 September 2007.] . The family ancestor was one [http://kurrein.com/Henriques/f81.htm#f2 Duarte Henriques] .
