Louisiana Independent School Association
- Louisiana Independent School Association
The Louisiana Independent School Association, more commonly known as LISA, was an agency, which regulated and promoted the interscholastic athletic competitions of some independent high schools in the state of Louisiana. The organization is now no longer in existence. clear
Organization.
LISA was made up of several (mostly smaller) private schools throughout the state of Louisiana.
LISA was divided into several state-wide "classes", also known as "divisions", based on each school's student enrollment for grades nine through twelve: 2A & 1A.
LISA’s competitive sports programs included Baseball, Softball, Basketball, Cross Country, Outdoor Track and Field, and Football.
History.
LISA had slowly been losing membership over a number of years. Following the 1990-1991 school year, one of the larger member schools at that time, False River Academy left the association to become a member of the LHSAA. The following year, 1991-1992, was LISA’s last year in existence. Following the break up of the association, several of the remaining member school’s followed the lead of False River Academy and also joined the Louisiana High School Athletic Association. The remaining schools that were located near the Louisiana border with Mississippi joined the Mississippi Private School Association (MPSA), or remained independents.
