Calgary Health Trust

The Calgary Health Trust connects donor passions with health care needs. They are raising funds for enhanced technology, programs and services at the Foothills Medical Centre, Peter Lougheed Centre, Rockyview General Hospital, Women's Health and Carewest continuing care centres.

Since 1996, the Calgary Health Trust has raised more than $200 million from donations, lotteries and special events. In 2006/07, the Calgary Health Trust raised $39 million to help provide the resources to deliver the finest health care possible for our community. [Calgary Health Trust Annual Report 2006/2007]

The Calgary Health Trust supports excellence in health care by encouraging, coordinating and allocating donations to health-care priorities in the Calgary area. Funds are raised through a variety of ways – including hospital sites, estate planning and well-known special events and lotteries.

Most of the funds donated to the Trust are directed to facilities and programs operated by the Calgary Health Region; funds are also granted to support the Foothills Medical Centre, Rockyview General Hospital, Peter Lougheed Centre and other community-based projects.

Reach!

A major fund-raising drive that the Calgary Health Trust operates is called [http://www.reachforhealth.ca/ "Reach!"] . Funds raised by this effort go to one of several institutes created as partnerships between the Calgary Health Region and the University of Calgary. In the area of cardiovascular research, education and healthcare, the beneficiary is the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta.
