Assimineidae is a family of minute, freshwater (and sometimes saltmarsh), snails with an operculum, aquatic gastropod mollusks, or micromollusks, in the infraorder Littorinimorpha.

These snails live in the high tidal zone, where they live shaded from direct light on the underside of stones or under decaying seaweed. They feed on fragments of organic detritus and diatoms, scraped up by the radula.

This family had been divided in three subfamilies :
