- Guido Maus
Guido Maus is aBelgian painter andsculptor who was born onNovember 5 ,1964 .Maus had mostly been shown in Belgium, France and The Netherlands before moving to New York in 2000. In 2004, he transferred his studio from Tribeca to Birmingham, Alabama.
He has also been part of shows at Birmingham galleries Bare Hands Gallery and Space One Eleven.His window installation "Opinionative Forces - Poems for the Struggling Mensch" at Space One Eleven was the first in a series of collaborations with the downtown non-profit gallery Space One Eleven, one of the very few galleries in the South having constant support and regular event-specific funding from the New York-based Andy Warhol Foundation.

On his regularly updated website, Maus shows recent and 'in progress' work and gives insight in his concept and issue-driven body of work.In his "Patriot, Act!" series, Maus talked about the growing uncomfortableness when it comes to the delicate subject of immigration as well as immigration law.His "DNA (Anatomy of the South)" series consists of questions related to the constant struggle for balance and search of identity in the South.
