The Shane Company or Shane Co. is the largest privately held jeweler in the United States. The Engelwood, CO-based company sells bridal and fashion jewelry with diamonds, rubies, sapphires and pearls. The company promotes its 24 nationwide stores and website through a long-running campaign of radio commercials featuring the company's founder Tom Shane. The radio commercials are know for their whinny, condescending, voice that is found to be exceptionally annoying by many. The company also positions itself with its long-standing slogan, "Now you have a friend in the diamond business."

Company history

The company was founded in 1971 by Tom Shane and Frederick Wheeler, although Shane's family has been in the jewelry business since The Great Depression. His grandfather, Charles, launched the family into the jewelry business in 1929. Shane's father, Richard, joined the business after World War II.
