Erlend Krauser

Erlend Krauser

Erlend Krauser (July 19, 1958, Timişoara, Romania) is a Romanian-born German new age guitarist.

A self-taught guitar player, he played violin and guitar with arguably the most popular rock band in Romania at the time, Phoenix (with whom he managed, in June 1977, a dramatic escape from Communist Romania, doubled up in one of the band’s speakers).

He settled down in Osnabrück.

He continued to play for two years with Phoenix (now called Transsylvania Phoenix, due to the fact that there was already a band that had the copyright to the name Phoenix). When Transsylvania Phoenix disbanded for the first time, in 1979 (there would be several reunions and disbandings later), he made a living by teaching the guitar and also by playing with Madhouse (a Phoenix offshoot).

Together with Phoenix and Madhouse bassist Josef Kappl, he joined Lake. Later in 1980, he started working in Hamburg, and moved there the following year.

He also played for shorter or longer periods with bands like Goombay Dance Band, Taco, Ricky Shane and Putting On The Ritz.

From 1982 to 1984, he played with a Hamburg group, Roter Mund.

He has been a member of the James Last Orchestra since 1992.
