Johannus Organs (Johannus Orgelbouw bv)
Founded in 1972, Johannus is located in the woody town of Ede in Holland. Their specialty is in classical home and church organs. Over the last few years, Johannus Orgelbouw has developed into an international company whose organs are being exported to over 80 countries. This has been achieved by their dedication and attention to detail, quality, and highly competitive pricing. In order to provide quality organs to all people regardless of budget, Johannus has developed four sets of organs. Each set is unique and generally produced for a specific purpose.
More information on their organs is available on their website at http://www.johannus.com and Johannus organs voiced to English Cathedral specifications are marketed by Makin Organs in the UK: http://www.makinorgans.co.uk.
TechnologiesJohannus has developed several technologies that help to make the instrument either more realistic to an actual pipe organ or more flexible to the organist. These technologies include:
- Physiological Expression Pedal - This simulates the effect of swell shutters closing. This technology is unique because it does more to the sound than simply adjust the volume - it has to adjust the timbre of the sound just like an actual expression pedal would.
Organ SeriesJohannus organs are available in five series. Each is designed for a different purpose and a different budget. Naturally, the larger and more custom organs are more expensive.
- Opus Series [http://www.johannus.com/wm.cgi?id=733;ws=9 (More Info)] - The beginning line of Johannus Organs. These are designed for the most modest of budgets. There are three 2-manual versions (Opus 7, 17, 27) and one 3-manual version (Opus 37) available.
- Sweelinck Series [http://www.johannus.com/wm.cgi?ws=9;id=734 (More Info)] - The middle line of Johannus Organs. These are designed for small churches (or large living rooms) and those who have a moderate budget. There are two 2-manual versions (Sweelinck 17, 27) and one 3-manual version (Sweelinck 37) available.
- Rembrandt Series [http://www.johannus.com/wm.cgi?id=735;ws=9 (More Info)] - The top non-custom line of the Johannus Organs. These are designed for large churches and concert halls, but may also be installed in living rooms. These organs have drawknobs, and there are two three-manual versions (Rembrandt 377 and 397) and one four-manual version (Rembrandt 497) available.
- American Classic VII [http://www.johannus.com/wm.cgi?ws=9;id=813 (More Info)] - This large three-manual organ is designed for large churches that have a large budget. Many of the items that are optional on the previously-mentioned models are standard on this organ.
- Monarke [http://www.johannus.com/wm.cgi?id=828;ws=9 (More Info)] - The Monarke line of organs is designed to be completely custom. It is the best way to build exactly the organ you want. Organs are available with any number of manuals, pipe facades, and any features the owner feels are necessary.
