Brian Large

Brian Large (born February 16, 1939 in London, England) is an opera video director. He was chief opera director and producer for the BBC from 1965 to 1980, and since that time has been Head of Media at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. He has won two Emmy Awards, the first an "Outstanding Achievement" award for the 1991 Metropolitan Opera Silver Anniversary Gala, and the second in 1992 for directing a production of "Tosca", conducted by Zubin Mehta.

Among his credits are the 1980 production of the Ring Cycle conducted by Pierre Boulez at Bayreuth, the 1990 Three Tenors video, and several videos featuring Cecilia Bartoli.

Large has written two biographies, the first on Bedřich Smetana (1970) and the second on Bohuslav Martinu (1976).
