- Hugo Heermann
Hugo Heermann (
3 March 1844 ,Heilbronn , -6 November 1935 ,Merano ,Italy ) was a Germanviolinist . He studied the violin withLambert Joseph Meerts at the Koninklijk Conservatorium inBrussels , and later withJoseph Joachim . From 1864 he lived inFrankfurt am Main where he taught violin from 1878-1904 at theHoch Conservatory . He played 1st violin withHugo Becker ,Fritz Bassermann andAdolf Rebner in the "Museums-Quartett" (also called the "Heermann-Quartett" and "Frankfurter Quartett"). Between 1906-09 he taught at the Chicago Musical College, in 1911 at theStern conservatory inBerlin and 1912 at theConservatoire de musique inGeneva . He had the distinction to have been the first to have playedBrahms ' Violin Concerto inParis ,New York undAustralia . After his retirement in 1922 he lived mostly in Merano, Italy.Publications
