- Alpenflage
Alpenflage is a commercial name applied to the large amounts of Swiss military surplus camouflage clothing coming onto the American market in the 1990's. The pattern is apparently identical to that of the German experimental pattern "
Leibermuster " which saw very limited service in World War II.The pattern uses a notably large amount of reddish-brown, which makes it appear very bright for something intended to conceal. Swiss soldiers [male citizens] have referred to it as "Vierfruchtbusche", which translates loosely as Tutti-Frutti Bushes. This version was phased out and replaced with TAZ 90, a print of identical pattern in traditional colours of green, brown, and black.
