- Giovanni Durante
Giovanni Alberti (1558 – 1601) was an Italian painter of the late-
Renaissance period.He was the third son of
Alberto Duranti , and brother ofCherubino Alberti . He was born atBorgo San Sepolcro in 1551. He travelled to Rome during the papacy ofGregory XIII and was employed in the decoration of theQuirinal Palace . During the the papacy ofClement VIII , he was employed along with his siblings, in the decoration of the sacristy ofSan Giovanni in Laterano . In conjunction with his brothers, he also helped to decorate (1595-1598) the Sala Clementina in the Vatican. For this work, Cherubino and Giovanni received 3050 scudi. Giovanni also worked inMantua ,Perugia ,Florence , and elsewhere. He died at Rome.References
