Giovanni Durante

Giovanni Alberti (1558 – 1601) was an Italian painter of the late-Renaissance period.

He was the third son of Alberto Duranti, and brother of Cherubino Alberti. He was born at Borgo San Sepolcro in 1551. He travelled to Rome during the papacy of Gregory XIII and was employed in the decoration of the Quirinal Palace. During the the papacy of Clement VIII, he was employed along with his siblings, in the decoration of the sacristy of San Giovanni in Laterano. In conjunction with his brothers, he also helped to decorate (1595-1598) the Sala Clementina in the Vatican. For this work, Cherubino and Giovanni received 3050 scudi. Giovanni also worked in Mantua, Perugia, Florence, and elsewhere. He died at Rome.
