Frensham Common

Frensham Common is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) near Frensham, Surrey. It is 100 acres of countryside between Farnham and Hindhead. Being owned by the National Trust but managed by Waverley borough council, it supports the sand lizard, smooth snake, woodlark, Dartford warbler and nightjar. The common is heathland and includes Frensham Great Pond and Little Pond. These ponds were built in the Middle Ages to provide food for the Bishop of Winchester's estate.
