genesis_1:1-3=In the beginning, God created heaven and earth. But the earth was empty and unoccupied, and darknesses were over the face of the abyss; and so the Spirit of God was brought over the waters. And God said, "Let there be light." And light became.
john_3:16=For God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that all who believe in him may not perish, but may have eternal life.|
The Catholic Public Domain Version, abbreviated as CPDV, is a modern Catholic translation of the Sacred Bible from the Sixtus V and Clement VIII Latin Vulgate edition. The sole translator and editor is Ronald L. Conte Jr.. The translator used the Challoner Douay-Rheims version as a guide in translating the Latin Vulgate into English. This translation also features a Latin-English Study which includes the Latin Vulgate, the English CPDV translation, translation notes, and commentary.
However, Can. 825 of the Code of Canon Law provides that "§1. Books of the sacred scriptures cannot be published unless the Apostolic See or the conference of bishops has approved them. For the publication of their translations into the vernacular, it is also required that they be approved by the same authority and provided with necessary and sufficient annotations." The CPDV is being published without approval by the Apostolic See or any Conference of Bishops, and without any annotations, in violation of Canon Law.
