ssireum debut in August, 1993 joining Chunggu pro-ssireum club. He was already expected to be an outstanding athlete before his debut since after showeing potential as an amateur player. From participating in Chunggu ssireum club to declaring his retirement from ssireum, he recorded 472 wins (the most winning record in Korean pro-ssireum history) and 158 losses.
