- American Club Idol
American Club Idol is an event created for the International School community in Japan who do not get to experience the real Idol fever. This even was started in 2006 to give students attending
international schools in Japan to experience a touch of theAmerican Idol experience. The winner of this event is given a chance to record in a professional recording studio as well as an appearance onInterFM .The competition was organized to showcase some of the talented singers and musicians that come from the international schools in Japan, according to Tokyo based actress and radio personality
Lisle Wilkerson , one of the event's planners."I kind of put American Club Idol together in part because growing up for me (in Japan) as an international school kid, you never really got experience of lot of the things that American high school kids got to experience. I know that currently American Idol is one of the biggest TV shows to come out in the last five years, so I talked with the Tokyo American Club and we decided to put this together, and I talked with FOX TV Japan and got their support. So we decided, yeah let's do this," Wilkerson said.

Some of the talent that came out, the things that they did, every time I watched a contestant I was amazed because I thought to myself that if I was in high school I would never been able to do that," Wilkerson added.
This event is sponsored by Fox Japan, InterFM and the Tokyo American Club
