Brant Imperatore

Brant D. Imperatore is an American lawyer and lobbyist. He was formerly Counsel, House Financial Services Committee, 2000 - 2002. He is currently with the Washington, D.C. lobby shop, BGR Holding, LLC.

Experience on Capitol Hill

A graduate of Tulane University's School of Law and the University of Virginia, he most recently served on Capitol Hill as Counsel on the House Committee on Financial Services in the 107th Congress for then-House Committee Chairman Michael G. Oxley and then-House Subcommittee Chairman Richard H. Baker.

Imperatore first came to Capitol Hill in 2000 as Senior Counsel to the United States House Banking Subcommittee/House Banking Committee on Capital Markets, Securities & Government Sponsored Enterprises. He served as legal and policy advisor to Subcommittee Chairman Baker.

“At the end of the 106th Congress, he played a key role in advocating and organizing the transfer of jurisdiction over securities and insurance from the Committee on Commerce to the newly formed Committee on Financial Services. While on Committee staff, he worked on a broad range of issues affecting the financial markets, including the Commodities Futures Modernization Act, the Terrorism Risk Protection Act, GSE reform, securities analyst conflicts of interest, and merchant banking regulatory relief.”

Professional Background

Prior to working on Capitol Hill, he practiced for three years in the marine and energy insurance litigation group of the New Orleans law firm, Frilot, Partridge, Kohnke & Clements. He also volunteered as part of the George W. Bush legal team in Florida in November 2000 (Victory 2000).

Barbour, Griffith & Rogers, LLC

He left O'Connor & Hannan (a Washington, D.C. law firm), and moved his practice to Barbour, Griffith & Rogers, bringing FHL Bank of Dallas, the Coalition of Community Bankers and the Gray Insurance Co. with him as clients. At Barbour, Griffith, Imperatore heads a specialty practice comprising financial services issues at BGR.

Personal

Of Italian and Polish extraction, Brant Imperatore currently resides in McLean, Virginia with his wife.

One of his sisters, Leah Imperatore, is married to Chris Albright, New England Revolution soccer player; making the men brothers-in-law. Fact|date=October 2007
