Small nucleolar RNA SNORA77

Small nucleolar RNA SNORA77

Small nucleolar RNA SNORA77 (also known as ACA63) is a non-coding RNA (ncRNA) molecule which functions in the biogenesis (modification) of other small nuclear RNAs (snRNAs). This type of modifiying RNA is located in the nucleolus of the eukaryotic cell which is a major site of snRNA biogenesis. It is known as a small nucleolar RNA (snoRNA).

SNORA77 was identified by computational screening and its expression in mouse experimentally verified by Northern blot and primer extension analysiscite journal | author = Schattner P, Barberan-Soler S, Lowe TM | title = A computational screen for mammalian pseudouridylation guide H/ACA RNAs | journal = RNA | volume = 12 | issue = 1 | pages = 15–25 | year = 2006 | pmid = 16373490 | doi = 10.1261/rna.2210406 | issn = ] . It belongs to the H/ACA box class of snoRNAs as it has the predicted hairpin-hinge-hairpin-tail structure and conserved H/ACA-box motifs cite journal | author = Kiss AM, Jady BE, Bertrand E, Kiss T | title = Human box H/ACA pseudouridylation guide RNA machinery | journal = Mol. Cell. Biol. | volume = 24 | issue = 13 | pages = 5797–807 | year = 2004 | pmid = 15199136 | doi = 10.1128/MCB.24.13.5797-5807.2004 | issn = ] .

SNORA77 is proposed to guide the pseudouridylation of 18S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) residue U814cite journal | author = Lestrade L, Weber MJ | title = snoRNA-LBME-db, a comprehensive database of human H/ACA and C/D box snoRNAs | journal = Nucleic Acids Res. | volume = 34 | issue = Database issue | pages = D158–62 | year = 2006 | pmid = 16381836 | doi = 10.1093/nar/gkj002 | issn = ] . Pseudouridylation is the (isomerisation of the nucleoside uridine) to the different isomeric form pseudouridine.
