Joan Erbe (born 1926; married name, Joan Erbe Udel) is a
Baltimore painter andsculptor . She is best known for asurrealist style using bright colors and has been called "The Grand Duchess of Baltimore Painters" (Rebecca Hoffberger quoted in Ned Oldham, "The Bird," "Baltimore Magazine", December 2001, p. 120). She received her training at theMaryland Institute College of Art , where she was a student ofLeonard Bahr andLouis Bouché. She has had over 60 individual art shows, at venues including:
