- Cala de Sant Vicent
Cala de Sant Vicent is a beach and holiday resort on the island of
Ibiza . It lies in the north east of the island, approximately 40 minutes drive from the capital (Ibiza), to the east of the small community ofSant Vicent de sa Cala in the municipality ofSant Joan de Labritja .It is a relatively quiet and child-friendly bay with a wide sandy beach. The small town is well known to the locals for its good Ibiza restaurants. The resident population in 2005 was only 117 people with another 313 people living in nearby
Sant Vicent de sa Cala .The resort is dominated by two 'Grupotel' hotels belonging to the TUI Hotels & Resorts company, a 3 star hotel catering mainly for Italian holidaymakers and a 4 star hotel whose main clientele are German. The beach near the Italian hotel becomes busy with hotel entertainers and sports in the summer months. Otherwise the resort holds a number of holiday apartment blocks and villas on the surrounding hills.
The beach boasts clear shallow waters which are safe for children when seas are calm. The bay offers good shelter to yachts and boats on a lee shore under westerly winds although the valley to
Sant Joan de Labritja can act as a wind funnel between high hills to the north and south of the bay. The hotels and apartments are separated from the beach only by a promenade lined with palm trees.Just outside Cala San Vicente is one of the island's most famous caves. High above the village, it testifies to inhabitants of the island in ancient times.
The bay is served by a sporadic bus service in the summer months.
