lexicographer and contributed much to the modern knowledge of the origins of thePolish language . He was considered an authority on the origins of Polish words, leading to a common phrase, "check out Kopaliński." His many published Polishdictionaries include, "Dictionary of Myths and Cultural Traditions" and the "Dictionary of Symbols"." His most famous work was the "Dictionary of Words and Phrases of Foreign Origin"." An unabridged version of this particular dictionary has been published on theInternet .Kopaliński also authored several books which are not dictionaries, inlcluding “125 Fairy Stories To Tell The Kids,” “Lexicon of Love Themes,” and the “Book of Quotes from Polish Belles-Lettres.” He was a member of the
Polish Writers Society . Additionally, Kopaliński wrote a regularcolumn in theŻycie Warszawy , ran a Polishradio station, and often translatedEnglish language books into Polish.Kopaliński died in
