Eduard Heinrich Graeffe

Eduard Heinrich Graeffe or Gräffe (27 December 1833, Zurich -23 April 1916 Ljubljana) was a Swiss entomologist specialising in Hymenoptera , Diptera and HemipteraGraeffe was "Inspektor" at the Zoological Station in Trieste(original building .Graeffe also worked for Johann Cesar VI. Godeffroy , a wealthy shipping magnate with a private museum, the Museum Godeffroy.Graeffe was employed, in order to arrange the collection as a scientific museum.The museum which contained insects from Australia , Samoa, Fiji , Tonga , the Phoenix Islands etc. also functioned as a dealership in natural history material.He wrote *Reise im Innern dei Insel Viti Levu." Neuejahrblatt der Naturforschende Gesellschaft in Zurich" 70: 1-48 (1868)which included descriptions by Oswald Heer.

Initially Graeffes insect collection was in Das Museum Godeffroy in Hamburg.This collection was sold and Graeffes specimens (and the material he had worked on) were divided between Civico Museo di Storia Naturale di Trieste(Hymenoptera, Diptera , Orthoptera and Hemiptera) and the Naturhistorisches Museum (Hymenoptera,Orthoptera Diptera and Hemiptera)
