Peter Andrew Waterworth (born 15 April 1957) is a career
barrister and diplomat and the governor ofMontserrat .He was sworn in at the Legislative Council of Montserrat on
27 July 2007 , 19 years to the day since he was last in Montserrat, when he served as aForeign and Commonwealth Office legal adviser.In his speech, he emphasised Her Majesty the Queen's commitment to and concern for the people of Montserrat and his commitment to the redevelopment of Montserrat.
Following his swearing-in, he inspected a special guard of honour in Little Bay.
Waterworth has served as the UK's deputy
high commissioner in Lagos andconsul-general forNigeria , political counselor inIslamabad andBaghdad , and in theNorthern Ireland Office as well as in Germany, Italy and the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office.He has a wife, Catherine, with whom he lives on the island.
