"Neon Genesis Evangelion Addition" is the fourth music album released relating to the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise. It features a variety of tracks: three instrumental, five vocal, and four drama tracks. "Addition" was released on December 21, 1996 in Japan by King Records in two editions: a limited and a regular addition, which respectively bear the catalog numbers KICA-333 and KICA-334 [cite web |url=http://chaos2.org/anime/soundtracks/st-eva-addition.shtml |title=Neon Genesis Evangelion – Addition |publisher=Justin David Smith |accessdate=2007-10-05 ] . The limited edition included a movie ticket for the first "Evangelion" movie, "". The album cover features an illustration by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, the character designer for the series. "Addition" has only been released in Japan.

Artists

"Addition" features the seiyu for Rei Ayanami (Megumi Hayashibara), Asuka Langley Soryu (Yuko Miyamura) and Misato Katsuragi (Kotono Mitsuishi), who between them account for seven of the twelve tracks. They are accompanied by the seiyu for Shinji Ikari and the supporting characters on the drama track Shuukyoku no Tsudzuki ("Continuation of the End"), a humorous parody in which the reunited cast tries to come with ways to continue "Evangelion"'s popularity [cite web |url=http://everything2.com/index.pl?node=Shuukyoku%20no%20Tsudzuki%20-%20Evangelion%20Drama%20Track |title=Shuukyoku no Tsudzuki – Evangelion Drama Track |publisher=Everything2.com |accessdate=2007-10-05 ] (the TV series had ended earlier that year on March 27). They try to increase the sex appeal of the series, change the show's format, and try to explain what the Angels actually are. However, their efforts prove fruitless and they ultimately decide to give up on it. Humorous moments of this little drama include Rei lashing out against Asuka's abuse, the Evangelion pilots becoming something akin to Power Rangers, and the cast reenacting the first episode with sound effects provided solely by their vocal cords.

The two classical pieces of music on "Addition" are by the composers George Frideric Handel and Ludwig van Beethoven.
