[cite web|url=http://www.internetradioindex.com/i-probe/ip_christian.html|title=Christian "Live" Internet Radio Stations...|publisher=InternetRadioIndex|accessdate=2007-11-17] K-LOVE makes heavy use ofbroadcast translator s to spread the signal across much of the country. The K-LOVE station in Wichita (KTLI) - which K-LOVE owners purchased in the early 2000s - serves as the station reporter of monitored airplay by Mediabase 24/7, while the Chicago station (WJKL) is monitored by Nielson Broadcast Data Systems (BDS) whose data is used by Radio & Records. As ofNovember 2006 , the network lists 124 transmitters of various power levels (though some may be duplicates). K-Love's morning show consists of John and Sherri Rivers who broadcast live from their Texas ranch.K-LOVE plays artists such as
Mercyme ,Third Day ,Steven Curtis Chapman ,tobyMac , and theNewsboys , among others. K-LOVE often holds listener telethons and appeals to its listeners to contribute to keep the stations operating. In June 08, Mike Novack, President of K-LOVE and Air 1, announced on air that their previous spring pledge drive was less than successful, and they were being forced to stop all expansions, freeze hiring, make cutbacks, and even sell a network radio station.Air 1 , K-LOVE's co-owned network, generally plays music akin to aHot AC orAdult Top 40 format.History
K-LOVE began as a single radio station,
KCLB , in1982 , in Santa Rosa,California as a result of the vision of a former San Francisco disc jockey, Bob Anthony (Fogal) who was later to be involved in the creation of another Christian music radio network,Air 1 . In1988 , coverage expanded as thetransmitter was moved to a better location following a fire. Encouraged by public support, KCLB become K-LOVE Radio in the same year, and additional stations were opened.
