Tee Tua Ba ( _zh. 郑大岩) is a diplomat and former Commissioner of Police of the Singapore Police Force. Background

He was born in Singapore on June 17 1942 and studied at Victoria School. He entered the University of Singapore and graduated with an LLB Honours degree in 1966 [cite web | title= NUS:Faculty of Law - Alumni Directory: Year 1966| url= http://law.nus.edu.sg/alumni/alumni_directory.asp?Year=1966 | accessdate= 5 October | accessyear=2007 ] and was subsequently admitted as an advocate and solicitor to the Supreme Court of Singapore in 1967.

Tee is married to Mdm Adelene Kong and they have two sons.

Police career

Tee joined the Police Force as Assistant Superintendent of Police in July 1967. Since then, he has held various appointments within the Ministry of Home Affairs, which include Office-in-Charge, Marine Police 1974 to 1976 [cite web | title= Police Life Monthly: PCG’s New Port of Call, Volume 33| No.3| March 2007| url= http://www.spf.gov.sg/prints/plm/2007/mar07_pg01.htm | accessdate= 5 October | accessyear=2007 ] , Commander of Police Divisions from November 1976 to March 1978, Director, Central Narcotics Bureau from April 1978 to March 1981 and Director of Criminal Investigation Department in 1981. He was appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police from 1982 to 1987. He assumed his appointment as Commissioner of Police in July 11992. He retired as Commissioner of Police in July 11997.

Diplomatic career

Tee Tua Ba was Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt [cite web | title= APPOINTMENT OF SINGAPORE'S AMBASSADOR TO EGYPT 01 JANUARY 2002| url= http://app.mfa.gov.sg/2006/press/view_press.asp?press_id=566 | accessdate= 9 October | accessyear=2007 ] from January 28 2002 to June 19 2006. Honours

Throughout his career with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Tee received many awards, among them the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 1974, the Public Administration Medal (Gold) in 1981 and the Meritorious Service Medal in 1998. He received the Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association, Gold Medal of Honour in 1986. Tee was awarded “Tan Sri” title by the Malaysian Government upon being conferred the Panglima Setia Makhota (PSM) in 1994 and the Royal Malaysia Police Order of Valour Medal in 1996.

Tee also held various Directorships in several companies. He was the Director of Singapore Corp of Rehabilitative Enterprises from July 1972 to June 1992. He was a member of the Singapore Sports Council from October 1993 to September 1996. He was also appointed Director of then Commercial and Industrial Security Corporation of Singapore from 1992 to 1997. He is presently Independent Director of the Middle East Development Singapore Ltd.
