Belacane

In Wolfram von Eschenbach's major medieval German epic poem "Parzival", Belacane is the faithful wife of King Gahmuret of Anjou. She is the queen of Zazamanc and mother of Feirefiz. Belacane was a Moorish (black) queen who ruled the area of Spain and with Gahmuret's help conquered her enemies. Because she was a Moor, she was not a Christian. Gahmuret loved her dearly, but would not stay with her because she would not convert to Christianity. He left Zazamanc before the birth of their son Feirefiz, who later came to King Arthur's court under the name of Feirefiz Angevin.
