- CIV (rail travel)
CIV in rail transport refers to the _fr. "Conditions générales de transport pour le transport international ferroviaire des voyageurs (CGT-CIV)", or in English, the "Uniform Rules concerning the Contract for International Carriage of Passengers and Luggage by Rail".
These are rules established by article 3 of the Convention concerning International Carriage by Rail (COTIF).
It is usual for rail travel tickets to which the CIV conditions apply to have the letters 'CIV' printed on them. For travellers using the
Eurostar in combination with the UK domestic railway network, it is necessary to buy a special kind of domestic railway ticket from or to a destination called 'London International' for the CIV conditions to apply.External links
