"Ultimatum" is an upcoming five-issue comic book story arc from Marvel Comics, scheduled to begin in November 2008. It falls under Marvel's Ultimate Marvel imprint. Written by Jeph Loeb and illustrated by David Finch, "Ultimatum" is a separate arc to the current Ultimate Universe lines and is currently scheduled to finish in March '09. During "Ultimatum", Ultimate Marvel titles "Ultimate X-Men" and "Ultimate Fantastic Four" will contain side stories about various characters and events that occur throughout Ultimatum. Rogue has already been confirmed to appear in a run of Ultimate X-Men during the Ultimatum event and The Thing (Ben Grimm) has been confirmed to appear in the story which runs in Ultimate Fantastic Four for this period. Elements of "Ultimatum"'s story will be established in the series "Ultimates 3" and the miniseries "Ultimate Power" and will relate to the current "Ultimate Origins" miniseries.

Loeb commented in an interview with Comic Book Resources.com that the series "will hopscotch back and forth between the two books and conclude what I would like to say is the first chapter of the Ultimate Universe. What that means and how that's explored is the basis of our story and we're not letting any cats out of the bag." In a recent interview on Youtube, artist David Finch confirmed that Loeb would be bringing much of the Ultimate Universe to a close. It is not known how many Ulitmate titles will survive beyond a guaranteed continuation of "Ultimate Spider-Man".Fact|date=June 2008

In this year's Comic-Con International in San Diego at Saturday evening's MarvelUltimate Universe panel, Jeph Loeb said that Aron Coleite's run on Ultimate X-Men would tie-in to Ultimatum, but did not indicate that this Ultimate Marvelseries would end.

Loeb also commented that there will be some form of 'Ultimates' coming out afterUltimatum and that he and Frank Cho will be working on that series.

Recent preview information implies an extreme climatic event, causing underwater volcanic eruptions and tidal waves.
