Prolate trochoidal mass spectrometer

Prolate trochoidal mass spectrometer

A prolate trochoidal mass spectrometer is an chemical analysis instrument in which the ions of different mass-to-charge ratio are separated by means of mutually perpendicular electric and magnetic fields so that the ions follow a prolate trochoidal path. cite journal|title=A New Mass Spectrometer with Improved Focusing Properties|journal=Phys. Rev.|date=1938|first=Walker|last=Bleakney|coauthors=John A. The instruments are used for the analysis of gasescite journal |author=Adamczyk B, Bederski K, Wójcik L |title=Mass spectrometric investigation of dissociative ionization of toxic gases by electrons at 20-1000 eV |journal=Biomed.
