São Luís, Maranhão , Brazil. For the last 30 + years his illustrations have graced magazine covers, [http://www.amazon.com/dp/customer-images/0872167763 book illustrations] , newspaper advertisements and various mediums of graphic representation.Leaving his home in Rio De Janiero in 1959, Da Silva concluded a decade as an in house talent for J. Walter Thompson, McCann-Erickson and Grand Advertising in Brazil. Working as both a Studio Illustrator as well as a Free Lance Creative Artist in the US, the artist's work appeared regularly in Playboy Magazine, Encyclopedia Britannica, World Book Encyclopedia, the Chicago Tribune and innumerable other print venues. Da Silva collaborated with the late
Bob Peak on the memorable Marlboro Man ad campaign. Da Silva also is responsible for illustrating the William Wrigley Jr. “Fun Facts” campaign, annual report covers for Caterpillar Tractor and International Harvester, and several syndicated color comic strips IncludingRex Morgan, M.D. .The progression to his current status as a Fine Artist occurred over the past ten years. DaSilva continues to paint and exhibit his work. He currently resides in a suburb of Chicago.
