Achiroe (Greek: polytonic|Αχιρόη), or according to
Apollodorus Anchinoë, [Apollodorus , ii. 1. § 4] which is perhaps a mistake for Anchiroë, was inGreek mythology anaiad , a daughter of the river-god Nilus. She was also the wife of Belus, by whom she became the mother ofAegyptus andDanaus , and, according to some accounts, Cepheus, andPhineus . Lycophr. 583 and 1161.]Ares begot by her a son, Sithon, and according toHegesippus , [Hegesippus , "apud Stephanus of Byzantium s.v.
