Peter Hays Gries is the Harold J. & Ruth Newman Chair in US-China Issues and Director of the Institute for U.S.-China Issues at the
University of Oklahoma .Biography
Dr. Gries received a BA in East Asian Studies from
Middlebury College , an MA in Chinese Studies from theUniversity of Michigan , and a Ph.D. in Political Science from theUniversity of California, Berkeley . He was a postdoctoral fellow at theMershon Center for International Security Studies atOhio State University , and an assistant professor of Political Science at the University of Colorado before coming to OU.Published works
Dr. Gries is author of "China’s New Nationalism: Pride, Politics, and Diplomacy "(University of California Press, 2004), co-editor (with Stanley Rosen) of "State and Society in 21st Century China: Crisis, Contention, and Legitimation" (Routledge 2004), and has written over 20 journal articles and book chapters.
