About 17 Relics

17 Relics was influenced by bands such as Echo and the Bunnymen, early REM, Sonic Youth and New Order. They played dreamy guitar rock and had 3 releases on the Shecky Records label.

History

Founded in 1985 17 Relics started by playing local venues in Mystic Connecticut. In the late 80's and early 90's they went from local fame to national exposure playing shows with bands such as Men Without Hats, Lush, 'til Tuesday and Peter Murhpy. Included was touring the college circuit between 1990 and 1993 where they sold out many shows. 17 Relics broke up in 1994 after issuing 3 releases on the Shecky Records label.
