Eric Halstead

Eric Henry Halstead (26 May 1912 - 18 June 1991) was a New Zealand politician of the National Party and later a diplomat.

He was born in Auckland, and educated at Auckland Grammar School and Auckland University. He was a Major in the NZEF in WWII.

He represented the Tamaki electorate from 1949 to 1957, when he was defeated. He held the following cabinet postsLambert & Palenski: "The New Zealand Almanac", 1982. ISBN 0908570554] :

* Minister for Industry and Commerce 1956 - 57
* Minister for Customs 1956 - 57

In 1940 he married Millicent Joan Stewart; they had four children. He was awarded a C.B.E. in 1980. He died in Auckland.
